As part of the NC Science Festival, the UNC Institute of Marine Sciences hosted the Beneath the Waves Film Festival in Carteret County. The goal of the Beneath the Waves Film Festival is to raise awareness of ocean conservation and marine science through film.
Graduate students from UNC’s Institute of Marine Sciences, NC State’s Center for Marine Sciences and Technology, and Duke University’s Marine Lab, spent one day taking the films into local classrooms, reaching over 250 students.
